  1. Freedom loving people of tribal community had rejected foreign powers from the very beginning. In 1857, when the spark of the freedom struggle reached Central India, the Bheel-Bhilala Nayaks of Malwa-Nimar tribe stood against the oppression. Tantya Mama also provided shelter to hundreds of freedom fighters who sought refuge in the forests. On September 15, 1857, he met Tantya Tope, the great hero of freedom struggle. He received training in gorilla warfare from Tantya Tope. The sole purpose of Tantya Mama's life was to punish the exploiters and give every person their due. The British were stunned by Tantya's bravery. Even a police brigade was established to catch him, but the British army could not reach him. The British eventually resorted to deceit, force and Man Singh created a history of betrayal.
